KRWG Visits MVTV

One of the the KRWG student reporters from New Mexico State University came to MVTV to do a story on our amazing crew. Veronica Baake stated, " I cannot believe how professional this crew is! I cannot believe they are in elementary school and from different grade levels. I can't wait to see what they will be doing when they are in high school and college, because they already look like professionals! Keep up the good job, MVTV!" This is the second time that the professionals have heard about our great broadcast station. Last year we were interviewed by KFOX....Our wolf pack already knows MVTV does a great job, it now looks like the word is out!
You can see this MVTV interview on the KRWG website.

This is my amazing first MVTV crew for Monte Vista Elementary School. We started our year by creating scripts for morning announcements over the PA system as we did not have a video production studio. Our first crew applied and interviewed for their positions. Our MVTV crew started by brainstorming what they wanted our production company to look like. We started from the ground up and developed the name of our production company, our logo, and the format of our daily morning live broadcast. The students came up with the basic daily format of: our school mission, weather, lunch, birthdays, and our daily message from our 7 Habits program by Stephen Covey broadcast daily. Each day also has various categories such as; Weekly Buzzword, Today in History, Quote of the Day and Are you smarter than a 5th grader? They also envisioned  producing special films, interviews, documentaries, music videos, talk shows and animated shorts. Our small studio was completed and we aired our first broadcast in March of 2013!
Our equipment includes:
  • Tricaster 40
  • 2 Macs
  • 2 HD video camcorders
  • two microphoness and an audio mixer
  • 2 monitors; one as a teleprompter the other as playback
Adrian, Josiah, Rachel, Bella, Abri, Katlyn, Arlene, Tariq, Xytlali, Josh, Sevryn, and Virgina created an incredible MVTV team! These students set the bar extremely high and our broadcast can only get better. I can't wait to see what next year's crew will create!

    Meet our Teacher!
    Cissy Lujan-Pincomb

It all started when I was teaching a multi-age class of 3rd-4th-5th graders and I applied for a grant to have one computer in my classroom. It was a Mac and I didn't have a clue as to what to do with it and then I was hooked! Over the years I have since taught video production at the middle school level where I began the first TV/radio magnet program called KSTAR. I have taught high school, community college, and at the university where I had the opportunity to be the co-founding director of the NMSU Creative Media Institute. I have now come full circle and decided to start at the beginning with introducing elementary students to video production with MVTV  and technology in our Monte Vista Tech Lab.
P.S. I still love the thrill of technology as much as I did when I got my first computer in my classroom..........
